Richards, Layton & Finger Names New President and Executive Vice President

WILMINGTON, Delaware – Richards, Layton & Finger has named C. Stephen Bigler president and William J. Wade executive vice president of the firm. Recently elected by the firm’s board of directors, Bigler and Wade assume their offices July 1 for a three-year term. Bigler succeeds Gregory P. Williams, who is the immediate past president and remains on the firm’s executive committee. Williams will continue to chair the firm’s Corporate Department.

Bigler is a member of the firm’s corporate transactional group. He counsels corporations, officers, directors, committees of boards of directors, stockholders and investors on matters involving the General Corporation Law of the State of Delaware and related issues of fiduciary duty arising in a wide variety of transactional and operational contexts, including entity formation, mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, defensive planning, capital-raising transactions and stockholder meetings. Bigler received a JD from the University of Virginia School of Law and a BS, Phi Beta Kappa, magna cum laude, from Washington & Lee University.

Wade is chair of the firm’s Litigation Department. His practice includes representing local and national clients in Delaware’s state and federal courts with an emphasis on various areas of civil litigation, including intellectual property and commercial law matters. Wade also represents and advises health-care clients, including the Christiana Care Health Care System, the state’s largest health-care system. He graduated with a JD from the University of Pennsylvania and a BA from the University of Delaware.
