WILMINGTON, Delaware (March 9, 2010) – Anne Shea Gaza, counsel with Richards, Layton & Finger, has been selected a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation, the nation’s leading research institute for the empirical study of law. The Fellows of the American Bar Foundation consists of lawyers, judges, law faculty and legal scholars who have been nominated by their peers to become members of the Fellows because they have demonstrated outstanding dedication to the welfare of their communities and to the highest principles of the legal profession. Membership in the Fellows is highly selective and is limited to the top one-third of one percent of all legal practitioners in America.
Gaza has a varied civil litigation practice that includes intellectual property litigation, toxic tort and environmental defense litigation, and commercial litigation. She represents local, national and international clients in complex commercial litigation matters in both federal and state court as well as before administrative agencies and in mediations and arbitrations. Gaza also serves as a neutral through the American Arbitration Association.
Gaza served as a member of the Merit Selection Panel appointed by the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware in connection with the reappointment of Magistrate Judge Thynge. Gaza serves as president of the Delaware chapter of the Federal Bar Association, and she was recently presented with the Caleb R. Layton III Service Award by the judges of the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware.
Gaza received a J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, where she was a member of the Journal of Law and Commerce, and a B.A., cum laude with honors in political science, from Moravian College. Earlier in her career, Gaza served as a captain in the United States Air Force, an assistant staff judge advocate and a special assistant United States attorney.
