WILMINGTON, DelawareBest Lawyers, the oldest peer-review publication in the legal profession, has named two Richards, Layton & Finger attorneys as Delaware Lawyers of the Year. Robert J. Krapf has been named the Best Lawyers’ 2009 Delaware Real Estate Lawyer of the Year, and Gregory P. Williams has been honored as the Delaware Bet-the-Company Litigator of the Year. The lawyers named as Lawyers of the Year have received exceptional ratings in the Best Lawyers surveys by earning a high level of respect among their peers for their abilities, professionalism and integrity.

This is the first time in its more than 25-year history that Best Lawyers has designated Lawyers of the Year in high-profile legal specialties in large legal communities across the nation. These specialties are Banking Law, Bet-the-Company Litigation, Corporate Law, Family Law, Personal Injury Litigation and Real Estate Law. Only one lawyer in each specialty in each community is being honored as a Lawyer of the Year.

Krapf is a director in the firm’s Real Estate Group. His practice focuses on a variety of transactional matters in the areas of real estate and land use law, and his clients include many of the regional and national developers, landlords, banks, conservation organizations, businesses and industries operating in Delaware. Krapf is president-elect of the American College of Mortgage Attorneys and chair emeritus of the Real Estate Practice Group of Lex Mundi. He is recognized in Who’s Who of Business Lawyers, Chambers USA and Delaware Super Lawyers, and he was voted one of the “Best Lawyers in Delaware” in Delaware Today magazine. Krapf earned a JD from the Delaware Law School of Widener University, an MA from the University of Delaware, and a BSFS from Georgetown University.

Williams is the chair of Richards Layton’s Corporate Department and the immediate past president of the firm. He represents corporations and their directors and officers, providing advice and counseling to his clients and representing them in courts in Delaware and across the country. Williams is a fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America. In addition to his recognition in Best Lawyers, Williams is listed in Lawdragon 500 Leading Lawyers in America, Chambers USA, Benchmark Litigation, Who’s Who of Commercial Litigators and Delaware Super Lawyers, where he is named one of the top 10 lawyers in Delaware. Williams received a JD from the College of William and Mary Law School and a BAAS, cum laude, from the University of Delaware.
