Richards, Layton & Finger and Three Firm Attorneys Named Among the World’s Leading Patent Practitioners

WILMINGTON, Delaware (June 6, 2014) – Richards, Layton & Finger and three of the firm’s attorneys, Frederick Cottrell III, Kelly Farnan and Robert Whetzel, have been named among the top patent firms and practitioners in Delaware in IAM Patent 1000 2014 – The World’s Leading Patent Practitioners. The IAM Patent 1000 research team interviewed attorneys and clients in 41 key jurisdictions around the globe to identify the world’s leading patent lawyers and law firms.

Mr. Cottrell, vice chair of Richards, Layton & Finger’s Litigation Department and head of the firm’s Intellectual Property Group, is described by IAM Patent 1000 as a lawyer “who can navigate the choppiest waters with a steady hand.” Ms. Farnan, a director in the firm’s Litigation Department and member of the IP Group, “continues to impress. She is a real up-and-coming lawyer.” Mr. Whetzel, who chairs Richards, Layton & Finger’s Litigation Department, also impressed the IAM researchers, who noted that “the quality of his work is tip-top.”
