Richards, Layton & Finger Director Doneene Damon Receives ABA Jean Allard Glass Cutter Award

WILMINGTON, Delaware (April 20, 2015) – Richards, Layton & Finger director Doneene Keemer Damon was presented with the American Bar Association’s 2015 Jean Allard Glass Cutter Award during the ABA Spring Meeting on Friday, April 17. This prestigious award, named for Jean Allard, the first woman to chair the ABA Business Law Section, is given annually by the Business Law Section to an exceptional woman business lawyer who has made significant contributions to her profession. Ms. Damon was presented with the award in recognition of her professional excellence, her dedication to the work of the Business Law Section, and her demonstrated commitment to mentoring and serving as a role model for other women members of the section.

Ms. Damon’s legal practice involves business trust and agency services, focusing primarily on formation and operational issues relating to Delaware statutory and common law trusts in all types of commercial and business transactions, representing issuers, underwriters, investors, and trustees. She also represents banks and trust companies in connection with their trust and agency services under Delaware and New York law in various commercial transactions, including their roles as trustee, collateral agent, depository agent, and exchange agent. Ms. Damon’s varied corporate trust transactional practice includes asset-backed securities, securitization of mortgage loans under pooling and servicing agreements, royalty trusts, liquidation trusts, and voting trusts. She also handles capital securities, mutual funds, private equity funds, collateralized loan obligations, cross-border leasing transactions, project finance transactions, and defeasance transactions.

Very active in many legal and community organizations, Ms. Damon has held leadership positions in the ABA Business Law Section’s Committee on Trust Indentures and Indenture Trustees, Securitization and Structured Finance Committee, Committee on Corporate Director Diversity, and Lawyers of Color Diversity Committee subcommittee, as well as serving on the board of trustees of the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights Under Law and the board of directors of the Christiana Care Health System. Ms. Damon has also received numerous awards from her peers, including being selected as a Fellow of the American College of Commercial Finance Lawyers and recognized annually in Chambers USA.
