In recent developments in labor and employment law, a Maryland U.S. District Court ruled in favor of the U.S. government in a lawsuit challenging the legality of the E-Verify system, the Third Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that a gay man must be allowed to pursue a Title VII claim alleging that he was harassed and retaliated against because he failed to conform to "gender stereotypes," and the Department of Homeland Security announced that it is increasing the number of I-9 audits and other enforcement measures in an effort to crack down on the hiring of illegal workers.
