Richards, Layton & Finger Director Nominated for Associate Judge of Superior Court

WILMINGTON, Delaware - John A. Parkins, a director of Richards, Layton & Finger PA, was nominated today by Delaware Governor Ruth Ann Minner to serve as Associate Judge of Superior Court. Parkins’ nomination was submitted to the Delaware Senate for confirmation, pending hearings which will begin soon.

“I am grateful to Governor Minner for the trust she has placed in me, and I now look forward to meeting with the members of the Senate,” Parkins said. “The Superior Court is the best trial court in America, and if I am confirmed, I will do everything I can to help the Court maintain its high standards.”

Before joining the firm, Parkins served in the Delaware Department of Justice as Chief of the Appeals Division, as Deputy Attorney General, and in private practice at another firm. Parkins began his legal career as a law clerk for the Delaware Supreme Court.

He is a member of the American Bar Association, the Delaware Bar Association and Rodney Inn of Court. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Delaware Theatre Company, volunteers at Immanuel Dining Hall and is a court-appointed guardian ad litem for Family Court. Parkins received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Delaware and his law degree with honors from Washington & Lee University.
