District Court of Delaware Assigns Cases to Visiting Judges

Due to the vacancies in the United States District Court for the District of Delaware, the Court announced today that it will be reassigning a portion of Senior Judge Robinson’s civil cases to visiting judges, effective immediately. The roster of visiting judges includes four from the Eastern District of Pennsylvania: Judge Mitchell Goldberg, Judge Gerald McHugh, Judge Mark Kearney, and Senior Judge Eduardo Robreno. The Court also announced as of May 26, that it will be reassigning certain cases from the Vacant Judgeship docket (“VAC”) to these visiting judges. Upon the filing of a “case-dispositive” matter, VAC cases will be considered ready for reassignment to a visiting judge. Prior to that occurrence, the cases will continue to be assigned to one of the three District Court Magistrate Judges. Chief Judge D. Brooks Smith of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit has also agreed to sit by designation and handle District of Delaware cases. In addition, Third Circuit Judge Kent A. Jordan has presided over multiple cases for the Court in the past and will continue to do so.
