Two Verdicts in Consecutive Jury Trials Before Judge Andrews

In an uncommon course of events, Judge Andrews presided over two jury trials in two weeks. On May 10, 2017, the jury in AVM Technologies LLC v. Intel Corporation, C.A. No. 15-33-RGA (D. Del. May 10, 2017), entered a unanimous verdict of no patent infringement and no invalidity, leaving the parties with no relief. On May 16, 2017, the jury in E.I. du Pont de Nemours and Company v. Unifrax I LLC, C.A. No. 14-1250 (D. Del. May 16, 2017), entered a verdict of infringement by Unifrax I LLC of E.I. du Pont de Nemours and Company’s U.S. Patent No. 8,607,926. The jury also found the patent was not anticipated and not obvious. The jury awarded approximately $3.2 million of the $7.6 million requested.
