Frederick L. Cottrell, III

Frederick L. Cottrell III focuses on various areas of litigation with an emphasis on intellectual property, antitrust, products liability and commercial law. A director in the firm’s Litigation Department, Fred represents parties in significant patent litigation before the United States District Court for the District of Delaware.

A frequent speaker on Delaware District Court practice and intellectual property law in Delaware, Fred has spoken at numerous seminars in his fields of practice, including at the Federal Circuit Bar Association on the use of injunctions in patent cases and at the ABA spring meeting on judicially assisted ADR. In addition, he has been a regular speaker at the Delaware State Bar Association’s civil litigation seminar on District Court practice. Fred also serves on various bar committees in his fields of practice.

• Representing Procter and Gamble Pharmaceuticals in various patent litigation against generic pharmaceuticals on P&G’s Actonel® product.
• Representing Occidental Chemical Corporation in products liability cases in Delaware. 
• Representing Micron Technology in its Delaware litigation against Rambus on DRAM technology. 
• Representing Bayer Pharmaceuticals in various litigation against generic pharmaceuticals.
• Representing PNC Bank in trademark litigation against ING.
• Represented Guidant and Advanced Cardiovascular Systems on patents concerning stent technology. 
• Representing Whirlpool in refrigerator patent technology against LG.
