Delaware Society for Human Resources Management, Employee or Independent Contractor? Properly Classifying Workers and Understanding the Legal Differences and Risks

Jennifer Jauffret and Lori Brewington will speak at the 12th Annual Delaware Human Resources Conference on a panel entitled “Employee of Independent Contractor? Properly Classifying Workers.” Attendees will learn why an employer would classify a worker as an independent contractor rather than employee, what legal consequences employers may face for doing so, and other issues raised by the misclassification of workers as well as the federal and state efforts to prevent it.
Participants will receive guidance on how to avoid liability for improperly classifying employees as independent contractors and will have the opportunity to interact with the presenters through the discussion of relevent case studies and scenarios.
