WILMINGTON, Delaware – Allen M. Terrell Jr. has been elected president of the Delaware State Bar Association (DSBA). Terrell is a director of Richards, Layton & Finger, where he focuses on corporate and complex commercial litigation and provides governance and transactional advice to corporations and their boards of directors and committees. Past president of Richards, Layton & Finger and past chairman of the firm’s litigation department, Terrell begins his tenure as president of the DSBA on July 1, 2008. The DSBA has nearly 4000 members and is dedicated to helping Delaware lawyers improve their practice so that they can best serve their clients.
Terrell’s goals as president of the DSBA include working to maintain the Delaware bar’s reputation as one of the nation’s most collegial and professional bar associations. Terrell is also committed to continuing the DSBA’s history of lawyers helping lawyers, offering initiatives to assist new attorneys and to help all members of the bar keep up with technological advances in the legal field.
Terrell is a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. He serves on the Corporation Law and Litigation Sections of the DSBA and the Business Law and Litigation Sections of the American Bar Association. A contributor to several law reviews, Terrell has also published numerous articles in The Business Lawyer and the Delaware Journal of Corporate Law and coauthored the Delaware chapter of the Product Liability Desk Reference. The Benchmark guide to America’s leading litigators awarded Terrell its highest rating, and he is listed in the 2008 edition of Delaware Super Lawyers. Terrell earned both his undergraduate degree and his law degree from Harvard University.
