Richard Layton’s Doneene Damon Named to Forbes Best-In-State Lawyers

WILMINGTON, Delaware (June 25, 2025) – Richards, Layton & Finger is proud to announce that Doneene Damon has been named among the Forbes Best-in-State Lawyers 2025 for Delaware. The list honors lawyers with impressive track records in their specialties who are lauded by peers and clients for their work in the professional and pro bono space.

“Knowledgeable and responsive” (Chambers USA, 2024), Doneene chairs Richards Layton’s Corporate Trust and Agency Services Group. Past president of the firm, she focuses her practice on the use of Delaware and New York trusts in a wide range of commercial transactions. Doneene also represents banks and trust companies in connection with their trust and agency services under Delaware and New York law. “When she speaks, everyone listens” (Chambers USA, 2025).

In addition to her key roles within the firm, Doneene has held several leadership positions in the American Bar Association, the Delaware State Bar Association, and other legal organizations. She serves on numerous boards, including as vice chair of the Structured Finance Association and chair of the Forum of Executive Women. Doneene also serves on the Board of Trustees for St. Joseph’s University and the Board of Visitors for Temple Law School, as well as on the boards of two private for-profit corporations and one public company.

Doneene is a fellow of the American College of Commercial Finance Lawyers and the American Bar Foundation.  Her many accolades include Chambers USA, Philadelphia Business Journal’s Diversity Leaders in Business, the News Journal’s Most Influential Delawareans, Savoy Magazine’s Most Influential Black Lawyers, Delaware Business Journal’s Most Influential Women in Business, and a Women, Influence & Power in Law Managing Partner of the Year. Doneene earned a J.D., cum laude, from Temple University School of Law and a B.S., cum laude, from St. Joseph’s University.
