Richards Layton’s Doneene Damon Receives Thurgood Marshall Award

WILMINGTON, Delaware (November 17, 2016) – Richards, Layton & Finger director Doneene K. Damon has received the Delaware Barrister Association’s 2016 Thurgood Marshall Award. This annual award honors a leader of the Delaware bar who has demonstrated a tireless commitment to improving and facilitating the administration of justice.

Ms. Damon, the executive vice president of Richards Layton, is a dynamic presence in the legal profession and the local community. She serves as vice chair and director of diversity of the American Bar Association Business Law Section’s Securitization and Structured Finance Committee, and as membership and diversity co-chair of the section’s Committee on Partnerships and Unincorporated Business Organizations. She also serves on the board of trustees of the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights Under Law. Ms. Damon is chair of the board of directors of Christiana Care Health System, Delaware’s largest employer, and serves on the board of the Delaware Community Foundation, which works to focus charitable resources for the greatest benefit throughout the state.

Ms. Damon focuses her practice on formation and operational issues relating to Delaware statutory and common law trusts in all types of commercial transactions. She also represents banks and trust companies in connection with their trust and agency services under Delaware and New York law. Ms. Damon is a fellow of the American College of Commercial Finance Lawyers and a member of the American Law Institute. Consistently recognized in Chambers USA, her other accolades include the ABA’s Jean Allard Glass Cutter Award, the National Association of Professional Women’s VIP Woman of the Year Circle, the National Diversity Council Leadership Excellence in the Law Award, and the Pennsylvania Diversity Council’s Leadership in Law Award.
