Richards Layton’s Intellectual Property Practice and Attorneys Named Among the World’s Leaders in IAM Patent 1000

WILMINGTON, Delaware (June 7, 2017) – Richards, Layton & Finger and three of the firm’s directors, Fred Cottrell, Kelly Farnan, and Jeffrey Moyer, have been named among the top patent firms and attorneys in Delaware in IAM Patent 1000 – The World’s Leading Patent Professionals 2017. Richards Layton received IAM’s highest gold ranking and is the only Delaware firm with two attorneys ranked in the top gold band.
IAM Patent 1000 praises Mr. Cottrell for his “practical and effective approach to litigation” and his “sagacious strategic advice.” IAM reports that Ms. Farnan, an “outstanding lawyer,” is “super hardworking and proactive.” The publication notes that Mr. Moyer’s “on-point analysis and polished courtroom performances make him a redoubtable opponent.”
Mr. Cottrell, a leading force in Delaware’s intellectual property bar and ranked in IAM 1000’s prestigious gold band, is the head of Richards Layton’s IP Group and vice chair of the firm’s Litigation Department. He represents industry leaders in significant patent litigation before the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware. In addition to IAM Patent 1000, Mr. Cottrell has been recognized in Chambers USA, The Best Lawyers in America, Super Lawyers, and as a Delaware Today Top Lawyer.
Ms. Farnan, also ranked in IAM 1000’s gold band, is a nationally recognized litigator with wide-ranging experience in patent cases involving pharmaceuticals, electronics, telecommunications, and consumer products. She has been recognized in Chambers USA, The Best Lawyers in America, Super Lawyers, as one of the Managing Intellectual Property Top 250 Women in IP, and as a Delaware Today Top Lawyer.
