WILMINGTON, Delaware (May 28, 2025) – Kinsey Lenehan, counsel at Richards, Layton & Finger, has been named among The Delaware Business Times Top 40 Under 40 Class of 2025. Known as the DBT40, this annual award honors top young professionals across the state under the age of 40 for their accomplishments in and out of the office.
“I’m so proud to congratulate Kinsey on this well-deserved award,” says Lisa Schmidt, president of Richards Layton. “She is more than a skillful lawyer; her tireless dedication to our firm, our profession, and our community is truly remarkable. We salute her and all she does to enrich the lives of those around her—while also raising two small children and running marathons in states across the country!”
Kinsey focuses her legal practice on complex transactional matters relating to Delaware alternative entities, including limited liability companies, limited partnerships, and general partnerships. She advises global law firms, national and international financial institutions, privately held funds, investment vehicles, and other entities on a wide range of complex matters.
Kinsey has demonstrated exceptional professional leadership throughout her career. Very active in several of Richards Layton’s in-house programs, Kinsey mentors the firm’s summer associates and trains junior associates. She is deeply involved in the firm’s Women’s Initiative, including organizing events and planning leadership panels, and she is the inaugural co-chair of the firm’s Supporting Working Parents group. Kinsey was repeatedly named to Delaware’s Office of the Child Advocate’s Honor Roll for her dedication to serving as a child attorney on behalf of abused or neglected children.
On the national stage, Kinsey was accepted into and completed the National Association of Women Lawyers’ 2025 Leadership Program. She is the incoming secretary for the Fund for Women Board of Trustees. Kinsey was chosen for the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity’s (LCLD) Pathfinders Program in 2023 and received the LCLD Pathfinders Program Atlas Award, given to participants showing the highest levels of engagement.
Kinsey, who lives in Wilmington, is steadfast in her commitment to the community. She has held numerous leadership positions within the Junior League of Wilmington, serves on the Development Committee of the Ronald McDonald House of Delaware, and has acted as a mentor through Big Brothers Big Sisters of Delaware. Kinsey sits on the Friends of Wilmington Parks Board of Stewards, and also serves lunches throughout the year to the homeless and at-risk members of the Wilmington community at the Emmanuel Dining Rooms.
