Overview
Philip Micha’s law practice is enriched by his bachelor’s degree in biology and zoology and his master’s degree in environmental management.
Philip focuses his practice on environmental liability in connection with real estate transactions, environmental enforcement, and related litigation, as well as review and negotiation of commercial leases. He also provides environmental due diligence review for real estate, dropdown, and other transactions, such as for purchase and sale of solar and wind farms.
Practicing in the firm’s Environmental, Real Estate, and Litigation Groups, Philip also works with the corporate attorneys to counsel clients regarding parent and subsidiary liability in the corporate context.
Philip’s practice includes:
- Analysis of environmental liability in various contexts for corporate, municipal, individual, and nonprofit clients
- Experience negotiating and closing corporate and commercial leases from the landlord and tenant perspective
- Providing environmental due diligence and analysis to real estate and other transactional clients
- Extensive experience appearing before judges in state and federal court for case management, status hearings, and motions
During law school, Philip was a notes and comment editor for the Chicago-Kent Law Review, and was on the environmental moot court team. He worked for the Illinois Attorney General’s Office of Environmental Enforcement Bureau and the US EPA Region 5 Office of Regional Counsel. Philip also completed judicial externships with the Honorable Matthew F. Kennelly of the Northern District of Illinois and the Honorable Richard D. Cudahy of the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals.
Holding a bachelor’s degree in biology and zoology, and a master’s degree in environmental management, Philip worked for three years as a research associate in a neuroscience lab at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, Oregon before pursuing his law degree.
